If the summer heat gets to you before one of Tampa's famous thunderstorms brings late-afternoon relief, you can take a waterlogged break at this 25-acre outdoor water theme park near Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. In fact, you can frolic here even during the cooler days of spring and fall, when the water is heated. The Key West Rapids, Tampa Typhoon, Gulf Scream, and other exciting water rides will drench the teens, while other, calmer rides are geared for kids. There are places to picnic and sunbathe, a games arcade, a volleyball complex, and an outdoor cafe. If you forget to bring your own, a surf shop sells bathing suits, towels, and suntan lotion.

10001 McKinley Dr. (between Busch Blvd. and Bougainvillea Ave.). Phone: 813/987-5600 . Open: Mid-Feb to Labor Day daily 10am-5pm; Sept-Oct Fri-Sun 10am-5pm (extended hours in summer and on holidays). Closed Nov to mid-Feb. Admission $22.95 adults, $20.95 children 3-9, plus tax. Free for children 2 and under. Note: Prices keep increasing, so expect to pay slightly more. Seasonal passes available. Take Exit 33 off 1-275, go east on Busch Blvd. for 2 miles, turn left onto McKinley Dr. (N. 40th St.), and entry is on right.
