CURRENCY CONVERTER

Even among the low-priced ethnic eateries that line both sides of pedestrian road Prince Arthur, this old-timer (opened in 1952) is an eye-widening bargain. Do the Mazurka double take, for example, with the mixed plate of pierogies, sausage, bigos (a sauerkraut-based stew), a potato pancake, and stuffed cabbage, all for only C$12 (US$8.55). Chicken Kiev is the same price, and they've been known to offer two lobsters for the same price that their competitors charge for one. Lately, they've added some Italian dishes. Service is glum and rushed, but that doesn't deter the throngs of students, artists, frugal execs, and night people who fill the place 12 hours a day.

Main courses C$6.50-C$15 (US$4.65-US$11).Open: Daily 11am-1am.Reservations accepted for 4 or more only.Credit Cards: AE, MC, V.Métro: Sherbrooke.
