CURRENCY CONVERTER

This crisp little eatery is opposite the Marché Bonsecours and on the route of the Vieux-Montréal walking tour. And because it's also a delicatessen with an abundance of tempting prepared foods, it's a place to remember for a picnic down the hill in the Vieux Port. At lunch, choices on the blackboard emphasize soups, salads, and sandwiches; at night, offerings are heartier and more inventive, with frequent Asian touches. Venison shank with Israeli couscous, tapenade-flavored oil and grilled vegetable compote is one example; peanut and ginger chow mein another. Flavorings are delicate and desserts are intriguing.

Main courses lunch C$12-C$17 (US$8.55-US$12), dinner C$19-C$39 (US$14-US$28); table d'hôte lunch C$13-C$16 (US$9.30-US$11).Open: Mon-Fri 11:30am-2pm; daily 5:30-10pm.Credit Cards: MC, V.Métro: Champ-de-Mars.
