Founded in 1963 and in its striking present home in the heart of Montréal since 1992, Place des Arts mounts performances of musical concerts, opera, dance, and theater in five halls: Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier (2,982 seats), where the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal often performs; the Théâtre Maisonneuve (1,460 seats), where the Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal and the McGill Chamber Orchestra perform; the Théâtre Jean-Duceppe (755 seats); the Cinquième Salle (350 seats); and the small Studio-Théâtre Stella Artois (138 seats). Traveling productions of Broadway classics have limited runs at the center, and portions of the city's arts festivals are staged here. The box office is open Monday through Saturday noon to 8pm. Ticket prices vary according to hall and the group performing.
