CURRENCY CONVERTER

Of all the unlikely places to expect a decent meal, let alone one that surpasses most of what can be found at more conventional local restaurants, this takes the laurels. African carvings adorn the walls, and a trio of conga drummers circulate, beating out rapid, insistent rhythms on bongos -- a tremendous distraction. It is loud, young, and extremely casual. The menu swings around the Pacific Rim, with stops in Hawaii, Thailand, and Indonesia. Authenticity isn't the point, taste is. Tuna, for only one example, is barely touched by the flame, then set upon a pad of shredded vegetables tossed with linguine and soy sauce. If you're interested, the cover charge for the disco upstairs is waived with proof that you ate at Voodoo.

Main courses C$16-C$34 (US$11-US$24).Open: Daily 6-11pm.Reservations recommended.Credit Cards: AE, DC, MC, V.
