Come here for fashionable food at simple bistro prices. Designed to accommodate only 40 diners, this place is illuminated with Venetian glass chandeliers and paved with old-fashioned floor tiles. The deep ochres and terra cottas are redolent of Provence's landscapes and villas. Chez Diane's offerings change with the seasons and the owners' inspirations. Recently we enjoyed sweetbreads in flap mushroom sauce; nuggets of wild boar in honey sauce; minced salmon terrine with green peppercorns; and a light-textured modern adaptation of hachis Parmentier, an elegant meatloaf lightened with parsley, chopped onions, and herbs. To finish with a sweet touch, we recommend the charlotte au fromage blanc, a tasty cheesecake with blueberry sauce.
