CURRENCY CONVERTER

This restaurant contains three large tables, where guests are seated family-style next to strangers, whom they often end up toasting with one or more glasses of wine before the end of the meal. There's only one option here: a 20€ grand-mère prix-fixe menu with bowls of soup and platters of paté, rillettes, and cheese. Main-course and dessert selections are plunked down on a corner buffet, and guests serve themselves until they're full. Anticipate country-style beef stews, blood-sausage terrine, tiny shellfish with freshly made mayonnaise, and a vast array of desserts. Wines are numerous and cheap -- the restaurant sells glasses and bottles of wine at rates substantially less than what's available at other competitors. Overall, the experience is satisfying and jolly. Management encourages guests to come either at 7:30 or 9:30pm, as part of a carefully controlled access.

Prix fixe 20€.Open: Tues-Sun noon-2:30pm; Tues-Sat 7: 30-9:30pm.Reservations recommended.Credit Cards: MC, V.Métro: Lourmel.
