A staple on the Parisian jazz circuit since 1976, Le Sunset/Le Sunside maintains two separate bar areas, one on street level and one in the cellar, where separate jazz shows -- each 3 hours in duration -- begin at 9:30pm and 10:30pm, respectively. Expect a decor that (in the cellar) emulates a Métro station, thanks to a sheath of gloss-white tiles, and a roster of French, Italian, and U.S.-derived artists that have included Roy Haynes, Aldo Romano, Richard Galliano, and, more recently, Steve Grossman, Mark Turner, and Simon Goubert. Whereas Le Sunset is dedicated to electric jazz and world music, Le Sunside is a temple of more conservative and classic jazz.
