Les Bains

The name, "The Baths," comes from this hot spot's former function as a Turkish bath, once attracting gay clients, none more notable than Marcel Proust. It may be hard to get in if the doorman doesn't think you're trendy and chic. (Yes, that was Jennifer Lopez we saw whirling around the floor.) Dancing begins at midnight, and a supper club-like restaurant lies upstairs. Meals cost 38€ to 46€. On certain nights this is the hottest party in Paris. Mondays are increasingly gay, although sexual preference is hardly an issue. "We all walk the waterfront," one DJ enigmatically told us, as he played soul, house music, or whatever.

7 rue du Bourg-l'Abbae.Phone: 01-48-87-01-80.Open: Daily midnight-6am.Cover 20€.Métro: Etience Marcel.
