NIGHTLIFE: THE CLUB & MUSIC SCENE

Batofar
Self-consciously proud of its status as a club that virtually everybody views as hip, Batofar sits within a converted barge that floats beside an embankment on the Seine, sometimes with hundreds of gyrating dancers, most of whom are in their twenties and thirties. House, garage, techno, and live jazz from groups that hail from (among other places) Morocco, Senegal, and Germany sometimes add to the creative mix. Come here for an insight into late-night Paris at its most raffish and countercultural, and don't even try to categorize many of the after-dark denizens you're likely to meet. Tapas can be ordered beginning at 4€ a plate, and beer costs around 7€ a bottle.
Open: Tues-Sat 6pm-3 or 4am, depending on business.Cover 7€-16€.Métro: Quai de la Gare.Closed Nov-Mar.
