Barrio Latino

It would be easy to spend an entire evening at this multistoried emporium of good times, Gallic flair, and Latino charm. Here's what you can expect: Tapas bars and dance floors on the street level (rez-de-chausée) and 3rd floor (2eme étage); a Latino restaurant on the 2nd floor (1er étage); and a private club on the top floor. Staff members roll glass-covered carts loaded with tapas around the floors, selling them like hot dogs at an American baseball game. The restaurant (open daily noon-3pm and 7:30pm-12:30am) serves main courses that range from 8.50€ to 26€ and include Argentinean steaks, Brazilian feijoada, and Mexican chili con carne, all of which taste wonderful with beer, caipirinhas, Cuba Libres, and rum punches. Marvelous, recorded Latino music surrounds you everywhere you go. Clientele is very mixed: mostly straight, partly gay, and 100% blasé about such matters.
46 rue du Faubourg St-Antoine.Phone: 01-55-78-84-75.Open: Daily 11am-2 am. Restaurant: daily noon-12:30am.Cover 8€ but only for nondiners, non-VIPs, and only on Fri-Sat after 9pm.Métro: Bastille.
