NIGHTLIFE: GAY & LESBIAN BARS Frommer
Open Café/Café Cox

Although technically, this side-by-side pair of gay men's bars are independent, their clienteles are so interconnected, and there's such traffic between them, that we -- like many other residents of this neighborhood -- usually jumble them together. Both define themselves as bars rather than discos, but on particularly busy nights, one or another couple might actually begin to dance. Simple café-style food is served throughout the day. Don't come here with preconceptions about what type of guy you're likely to find -- patrons can include just about every type of male that roams the streets of gay Europe today.

15 and 17 rue des Archives, 4e.Phone: 01-42-72-26-18.Open: Daily 11am-2am (till 4am Fri-Sat).No cover charge.Métro: Hôtel de Ville.
