La Boutique de la Comédie Française

This is the official gift/souvenir shop of France's most historic and prestigious theater. The plays commemorated inside have elicited in the French as much emotion and loyalty as Shakespeare has in the British. Look for plates and cups depicting 18th-century misers, maidens, and faithful servants, as well as scarves, pens, drinking glasses, and napkins honoring the French theater. You might appreciate the beer mugs (les chopes) emblazoned with the frontispiece of Molière's original folio for Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme. The gift shop remains open in August, when the theater is closed.
