This funky Japanese canteen is all the rage in London. The clean lines, stark white walls, and long wooden tables might suggest an upmarket youth hostel. But patrons come for good food at reasonable prices. The restaurant is ideal for a pre-theater visit. Your meal comes in a lacquered bento box on a matching tray. Try the chicken teriyaki or fresh chunks of tuna and salmon. The dumplings are excellent, as is the miso soup. A specialty is the large bowl of seafood ramen, with noodles swimming in a well-seasoned broth studded with mussels, scallops, and prawns. Tofu steaks are a delight, as are udon noodles with wok-fried chicken and fresh vegetables. You can finish with deep-fried tempura ice cream.

Main courses £6-£16 ($9.60-$26).Open: Mon-Tues noon-11pm; Wed-Thurs noon-11:30pm; Fri-Sun noon-midnight.Reservations not accepted.Credit Cards: AE, MC, V.Tube: Piccadilly Circus.
