What is it, you ask? A bar? A deli? A microbrewery? Actually, it's all of the above, plus a restaurant. Breakfast and weekend brunch are the highlights, but don't ignore dinner. The owners of the hot Atlantic Bar & Grill have opened this "sunken chill-out zone" created by leading designer John Currin. The atmosphere is trendy, hip, breezy, and arty. The novelty decor includes curvy sci-fi lines that might remind you of a Star Trek set, and lizard-eye lighting fixtures, but ultimately the food is the attraction.
Suckling pig with spring cannellini stew made us forget all about the trendy mirrored bathrooms. So did the terrific pizzas emerging from the wood-fired oven. On another occasion, we returned for sea bass freshly grilled over wood and presented enticingly with grilled artichoke. Also try the chargrilled tuna with sautéed new potatoes, wilted spinach, and puttanesca dressing.
