CURRENCY CONVERTER

This outpost offers the best southern Indian cuisine in town. While most of London's Indian restaurants specialize in the cuisine of the north, Rasa Samundra features cookery of the southern state of Kerala, focusing on specialties from the sea. Owner Das Sreedharan's mother has trained all the chefs and the results are delectable. Try malslam pattichathu (kingfish cooked in fresh spices, with green chile and coconut paste), para konju nirachathu (lobster cooked with black pepper, garlic, and Indian shallots, and served with whole-lemon and beet-root curry), masala dosa (paper-thin rice and black-grain pancakes filled with potato and ginger masala), and moru kachlathu (green bananas and mangoes cooked in a yogurt sauce with turmeric and onions). Rasa also offers a range of appetizers, side orders, breads, rice, and desserts. Most dishes are at the lower end of the price scale.

Main courses £10-£30 ($16-$48); fixed-price lunch £20 ($32); fixed-price dinner £30 ($48).Open: Daily noon-11pm.Reservations required.Credit Cards: AE, DC, MC, V.Tube: Tottenham Court Rd.
