Hayward Gallery

Opened by Elizabeth II in 1968, this gallery presents a changing program of major contemporary and historic exhibits. It's managed by the South Bank Board, which also operates the Royal Festival Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, and the Purcell Room. Each exhibition is accompanied by a variety of activities, including tours, workshops, lectures, and publications. The gallery closes between exhibitions, so call before crossing the Thames.

Open: Thurs-Mon 10am-6pm; Tues-Wed 10am-8pm.Admission £6-£8 ($9.60-$13) adults; £4-£5 ($6.40-$8) students, seniors, and children; £14 ($22) family ticket; free for children under 12. Fee varies according to exhibitions; children often admitted half price.Tube: Waterloo or Embankment.
