NIGHTLIFE: THE PERFORMING ARTS Frommer
Sadler's Wells Theatre

This is a premier venue for dance and opera. It occupies the site of a series of theaters, the first built in 1683. In the early 1990s, the turn-of-the-century theater was mostly demolished, and construction began on an innovative new design completed at the end of 1998. The turn-of-the-century facade has been retained, but the interior has been completely revamped with a stylish cutting-edge theater design. The new theater offers classical ballet, modern dance of all degrees of "avant-garde-ness," and children's theatrical productions, including a Christmas ballet. Performances are usually at 8pm.

Open: Box office Mon-Sat 9am-8:30pm.Tickets £9-£45 ($14-$72).Tube: Northern Line to Angel.
