Opened in 1936 as the home of DAKS clothing, DAKS has been going strong ever since. It's known for menswear--its basement-level men's shoe department is a model of the way quality shoes should be fitted--as well as women's fashions, perfume, jewelry, and lingerie. Many of the clothes are lighthearted, carefully made, and well suited to casual elegance. Solid, reliable and dependant, this is a well-established store whose core market is male and female clients ages 30 to 50. Clothes aren't particularly cutting edge (and indeed, many of the regular clients here aren't necessarily looking for that), except for the clothing from the recently inaugurated youth line "Daks E1."
