This little restaurant is your best bet for Italian dining in the East End, though not as good as competitors in the City of Hamilton. The building housing the restaurant originated as a sea captain's house 200 years ago, and has been hugely expanded since then. It has the most appealing and panoramic terrace in St. George, with a view of the harbor and of St. David's Island. This is not the most sophisticated Italian cuisine we've ever sampled, but it is reliable, tastes good, and is made with quality products. The antipasto is a bit routine, but there are several savory pastas, including tortellini and creamy lasagna (only if you've already lost the battle of the bulge). The chicken breast was enjoyable, but the bacon wrap won't appeal to certain modern tastes. The freshly made salmon salad looked tempting but lost to freshly broiled wahoo served with a lemon-butter sauce.

Lunch main courses $9.50-$16; dinner main courses $10-$27.Open: Daily 11:30am-2:30pm, 6:30-10pm.Reservations recommended.Credit Cards: MC, V.Bus: 3, 10, or 11.
