CURRENCY CONVERTER

Battered, convivial, and cheerful, this restaurant duplicates the cuisine of Barbados and the ambience of the southern West Indies. Diners enjoy Spring Garden's palm-shaded courtyard, and 40-seat dining room lined with oil paintings by Barbados-based artists. Victor Alleyne, your host, presides over a bar where the activity continues long after the last dinner is served. Beneath a cedar ceiling, or under the open sky, depending on where you sit, you'll enjoy fried flavor-filled dishes that have real Bajan or West Indian flavor. Naturally, peas and rice accompany most dishes. The rotis here are as good as the authentic ones of Trinidad, and salads are made fresh daily, along with well-stuffed sandwiches if you visit for lunch. That specialty of Barbados, pan-fried flying fish, is served here with tartar sauce, and you can order a savory lamb curry.

You can also choose from a selection of Bermudian staples such as fish chowder, fish cakes, and tasty oxtail soup; a great choice for a chilly day.

Lunch main courses $6-$15; dinner main courses $10-$24.Open: Mon-Sat 11:30am-3pm; daily 6-10:30pm.Reservations recommended.Credit Cards: AE, MC, V.Bus 7 or 11.
