Banff's original hostelries weren't all as grand as the Banff Springs Hotel. There was also the Homestead Inn, established in the 1910s, with its much-loved restaurant, Melissa's. The original hotel has been replaced with a more modern structure, but the old log cabin that houses Melissa's remains. Old-fashioned Canadian dishes still dominate the menu. Breakfasts are famed, especially the apple hot cakes. Lunch and dinner feature burgers, sandwiches, local trout, and steaks.
