Indigo Books Music & More

This Canadian-owned chain boasts an excellent selection of books, magazines, and videotapes. It has tables and chairs to encourage browsing, a cafe, and helpful staff. Best of all, there are special events (author visits, live performances, even seminars) almost daily. There are also events for kids. The store is a favorite with night owls -- it's open until 11pm or midnight every day. There are branches at the Eaton Centre (tel. 416/591-3622) and at 2300 Yonge St., at Eglinton Avenue (tel. 416/544-0049).
