CURRENCY CONVERTER

Visitors are discovering this spirited little bistro, which was already packed with locals. That means the staff is spread thin trying to deal with the crush, so swift meals aren't to be expected. The chatty patrons are satisfied by such classics as duck sausage a l'orange, and lamb and Merguez sausage couscous, along with less familiar possibilities such as paupiettes of pheasant with mushrooms and currants. The surroundings are the Vieux-Montréal norm, with stone-and-brick walls and rough-cut rafters overhead. The room is warmed by a fireplace in winter. Meals are also put together for takeout -- meant for offices, but useful for a picnic in the nearby waterfront park. Better still is lunch at the tables set out in the plaza from May through September.

Main courses and lunch table d'hôte C$12-C$18 (US$8.55-US$13); table d'hôte dinner C$15-C$22 (US$11-US$16).Open: Mon-Fri 10am-4pm; Mon-Sat 5:30-10pm.Reservations recommended.Credit Cards: MC, V.Méetro: Square-Victoria.
