Ruth Price's nonprofit venue is renowned for attracting some of the most important names in jazz--and for the restored Helms bakery factory that houses the club and inspires its name. Hers is a no-frills, all-about-the-music affair, and the place is pretty much BYO in the drinks department. Drummer Jimmy Cobb, the last remaining member of Miles Davis's "Kind of Blue" band, had a 4-night stint at JB recently.
