On the outside, Akbar isn't much to look at with its brown stucco facade and simple (almost imperceptible) sign. Step inside, though, and you'll find one of the city's more moody and elegant rooms. Friendly barkeeps ply patrons with cocktails from behind the arabesque mirrored bar, and an astonishingly diverse CD jukebox is filled to capacity with tunes old and new. All that, plus plenty of cozy seating in dark nooks, makes this mecca an east Hollywood oasis.
