Located in a former bank building downtown, 4th & B is a no-frills music venue made comfortable with haphazardly placed seating (balcony theater seats, cabaret tables on the main floor) and a handful of bar/lounge niches--one actually inside the old vault. The genre is barrier-free; everyone from Fishbone to Toto to They Might Be Giants to Lisa Marie Presley has shown up here, along with regular bookings of the San Diego Chamber Orchestra. Look into advance tickets; the box office is open daily from 10am to 5pm.
