Turf Supper Club

Hidden in one of San Diego's old, obscure, and newly hip neighborhoods (about 10 min. east of downtown), the gimmick at this retro steakhouse is cheap, "grill your own" dinners. Steaks are delivered raw, but seasoned, on a paper plate--you do the rest. Tip: Don't be afraid to ask for grilling suggestions from the staff. The decor and piano bar (on Sun) are pure 1950s, and wildly popular with the cocktail crowd; the volume level other nights is not always conducive to intimate dining.
