Euro transplants love Café Claude, a crowded and lively restaurant tucked into a narrow (and very European feeling) side street near Union Square. Seemingly everything -- every table, spoon, saltshaker, and waiter -- is imported from France. With prices topping out at about $13 for main courses such as poussin rôti (roast Cornish hen with potatoes and aioli), French shepherd's pie, or poisson du jour (fish of the day), Café Claude is a good value. There is live jazz on Saturday from 7 to 10pm. Outdoor seating is available when the weather permits.
Main courses $10-$13.Open: Mon 11:30am-2:30pm; Tues-Wed 11:30am-10pm; Thurs-Fri 11:30am-10:30pm; Sat 11:30am-10pm.Reservations recommended.Credit Cards: AE, DC, DISC, MC, V.Cable car: Powell-Mason and Powell-Hyde lines.
