I hate to plug chains, and this loud, rock-nostalgia-laden place would be no exception if: 1) I knew tourists were no longer interested in it; and 2) it didn't serve a fine burger and overall decent heaping plates of food at such moderate prices. For many, the real draw -- almost 20 years past the time when it was hip to wear the restaurant's logo -- is the merchandise shop, but a shopper's gotta eat. The friendly menu offers burgers, fajitas, baby-back ribs, grilled fish, chicken, salads, and sandwiches, the munching of which are muffled by blaring music. Although it's nothing unique to San Francisco, the Hard Rock is a fine place to bring the kids and grab a bite.
