The Carnelian Room

On the 52nd floor of the Bank of America Building, the Carnelian Room offers uninterrupted views of the city. From a window-front table you feel as though you can reach out, pluck up the TransAmerica Pyramid, and stir your martini with it. In addition to cocktails, the restaurant serves a three-course meal ($39 per person). Jackets are required and ties are optional, but encouraged, for men. Note: The restaurant has one of the most extensive wine lists in the city -- 1,275 selections, to be exact.

555 California St.Phone: 415/433-7500.
