The Redwood Room

This historic room flanked in redwood paneling and illuminated with beautiful sconces is still an Art Deco beauty, but the ground-floor lounge that was one of San Francisco's most comfortable and nostalgic piano bars is no longer even remotely old-school. Ian Schrager had the room revamped in 2001, and though it retains its gorgeous redwood interior made from a single 2,000-year-old tree, the vibe is now more for swinging singles, the tragically hip, and posers than for return guests who have frequented the historic room for over 50 years. Drinks go for $8 to $15.
