Country-music lovers flock to the Trail Dust, which serves up live dance music along with mesquite-grilled steaks and ribs. Steaks range from 9 to 50 ounces and come with salad, beans, and bread. Chicken, fish, pasta, and a smattering of Mexican dishes are also available. The decor is made up of necktie tips and Western antiques interspersed with large photos of Hollywood western heroes. The necktie tips are the result of a Trail Dust tradition: Wear a tie and the staff will snip it off with scissors, then buy you a drink.

There's a second Trail Dust at the north end of Denver, at 9101 Benton St., Westminster (tel. 303/427-1446), next to the Westminster Mall.
