This Macarena has long outlived its passé line-dance namesake and is rather hip, actually, looked after by a young crew of Spanish imports whose families own several popular restaurants in Madrid. Show up before 10pm and you're sure to get a table. After that time, especially on weekends, it's standing room only. The gorgeous Euro crowd shows up for foot-stomping flamenco (every Wednesday and Friday--call for show times) and an outrageous selection of tapas, as well as Miami's very best paella (order a large portion and share it among at least four people). The garlic shrimp are tasty and aromatic and the yellow squash stuffed with seafood and cheese is especially delicious. All the seafood, such as mussels in marinara sauce and clams in green sauce, is worth sampling. With such reasonable prices, you can taste lots of dishes and leave satisfied. Try some of the terrific sangria, made with slices of fresh fruit and a subtle tinge of sweet soda. Sidewalk seating is available on busy Washington Avenue, but the action is more entertaining inside.
Main courses $14-$22; tapas $7-$10.Open: Sun-Thurs 7pm-midnight, Fri-Sat 7pm-1:30am.Reservations recommended on weekends.Credit Cards: AE, DC, MC, V.
