Unless your surname is Pacino, DeNiro, or Winfrey (you get the idea), you might find yourself digging a hungry hole to China Grill at the gauche hour of 6pm or the indigestion-inducing hour of midnight. But with an incomparable, albeit dizzying, array of amply portioned dishes such as the outrageous crispy spinach, wasabi mashed potatoes, seared rare tuna in spicy Japanese pepper, broccoli rabe dumplings, lobster pancakes, and a sinfully delicious dessert sampler complete with sparklers, this hub of South Beach flash is well worth the wait. In fact, the wait is part of the China Grill experience. A coveted spot at the bar is headquarters for many of Miami's movers and shakers who come solely for the frenetic scene. On weekend nights, there's barely room to breathe. Keep in mind that China Grill is a family-style restaurant and that dishes are meant to be shared.
Main courses $25-$59.Open: Mon-Thurs 11:45am-midnight; Fri 11:45am-1am, Sat 6pm-1am, Sun 6pm-midnight.Reservations strongly recommended.Credit Cards: AE, DC, M, V.
