Mark's South Beach
1120 Collins Ave., South Beach
(In the Hotel Nash)
tel.: 305/604-9050
Location: In the Hotel Nash
Cuisine: Mediterranean
Price Category: Very Expensive

Named after owner and chef Mark Militello, this is one of the best restaurants in all of Miami. A cozy, contemporary restaurant nestled in the basement of the quietly chic Hotel Nash, Mark's New World and Mediterranean-influenced menu changes nightly. What doesn't change is the consistency and freshness of the restaurant's exquisite cuisine. The roast garlic stuffed tenderloin of beef with polenta and a ragout of root vegetables is exceptional and worth every bit of cholesterol it may have. Cornmeal-dusted black grouper wrapped in Serrano ham and zucchini is in a school of its own. Desserts, including an impressive cheese cart, are outrageous, especially the pistachio cake with chocolate sorbet. Unlike many South Beach eating establishments, the knowledgeable servers are here because of their experience in the restaurant--not modeling--business.

Main courses $18-$3.Open: Daily 6-11pm.Reservations recommended.Credit Cards: AE, DC, DISC, MC, V.
