Flea World

You'll find what may be Florida' largest flea market in Sanford, about 45 minutes north of the attractions. Flea World is pretty much exactly what the name implies: a huge, tacky flea market with a twist. It has everything from dentists' and lawyers' offices to lingerie and lamp shops. Although many folks give it an assortment of derogatory names, it's fun for people-watchers as well as those in desperate need of tractor tires, leather chaps, ginsu knives, and other uncommon merchandise. It has some 2,000 booths. Among this babble of not-so-many bargains are many shops selling Florida T-shirts and souvenir-worthy knickknacks. Just in case the merchandise doesn't give you visual overload, sometimes there is entertainment as diverse as live lions and tigers, Elvis impersonators, and bingo. It's open from 10am to 6pm, Friday through Sunday.

4311 Orlando Ave., off U.S. 17/92, Sanford, Take I-4 Exit 98/Lake Mary Blvd., go 3 miles to U.S. 17/92 and turn left. Continue 1 mile. Flea World is on the rightPhone: 407/321-1792.
