Woody's Famous Philadelphia Cheesesteaks

(At Tenth St)
tel.: 404/876-1939
Location: At Tenth St

Gourmet it ain't, but if you and the kids are all tuckered out from a romp in nearby Piedmont Park, walk on over to this casual little spot for lunch. It's barely bigger than a glorified hot dog stand, but serves up excellent Philly cheese steaks, Italian subs, Polish sausages, and hot dogs. The ordering line (there's no table service) often snakes all the way out the door, so arrive at off-peak hours or be prepared to wait. There are just five small booths inside, but the best place to sit on a nice day is the covered deck--perfect for enjoying an orange freeze or one of Woody's extra-thick, old-fashioned milkshakes.

Hot dogs and sandwiches $2-$5.Open: Tues-Sat 11am-5pm.Credit Cards: Not accepted.MARTA: North Ave.
