You'll think you're in the heart of New York when you dine at renowned restauranteur Bob Amick's newest creation, both delicious and not too pricy (someone finally figured it out). Even the chef, Kevin Reilly, is a New Yorker, and his menu ranges from the frou-frou to the very simple. Excellent choices would be grilled white salmon with bitter greens and fresh oranges or the wood-roasted striped bass with baby artichokes. Hugely popular is the "three from the garden" vegetable sampler that changes with the season. On this platter, the kitchen might tingle the taste buds with roasted cauliflower or baked artichokes. The restaurant also specializes in cold-water oysters accompanied by specialty sauces such as Peppar vodka Mignonette. The wine list is eclectic and affordable and the atmosphere is high energy--maybe the high spirits are left over from the restaurant's previous life as a swinging club. Located on the edge of Piedmont Park, One takes the cake when it comes to creativity in powder rooms (you'll see what I mean). This is becoming a fast favorite of locals, especially the younger crowd still working their way up the ladder to six figures. The late-night hours on weekends make this a great place for dining after clubbing.

Starters $5-$11; entrees $14-$19.Open: Mon-Thurs 5:30pm-midnight; Fri-Sat 5:30pm-1am; Sun 11am-2:30pm and 5:30-10pm.Reservations recommended.Credit Cards: AE, MC, V.MARTA: Midtown.Valet parking.
