Breakfast is terrific here -- omelets, eggs made to order, Maui Portuguese sausage, Hawaiian pancakes -- and so is lunch. Pic-nics is famous for many things, among them the spinach-nut burger, an ingenious vegetarian blend topped with vegetables and cheddar cheese. Stop here to refresh yourself with a plate lunch or smoothie for the drive to Hana or upcountry Maui. The gourmet sandwiches (Kula vegetables, home-baked breast of turkey, Cajun chicken, Cajun fish) are worthy of the most idyllic picnic spot. The rosemary herb-roasted chicken can be ordered as a plate lunch or as part of the Hana Bay picnic, which includes sandwiches, meats, Maui-style potato chips, and home-baked cookies and muffins. You can order old-fashioned fish and chips, too, or shrimp and chips. Fresh breads and pastries add to the appeal, and several coffee drinks made with Maui-blend coffee may give you the jolt you need for the drive ahead.

Most items less than $6.95.Open: Daily 7am-5pm.Credit Cards: MC, V.
