Chef Tom Lelli, formerly of Haliimaile General Store, is serving up some incomparable fare at this central Maui hot spot. The industrial motif features table bases like hubcaps, a vertical garage door as a divider for private parties, blown-glass chandeliers, and gleaming chrome and cobalt walls with orange accents. The brilliantly conceived and executed menu includes fried green tomatoes, done just right and served with slivered red onions; a ceviche with the perfectly balanced flavors and textures of lime, cilantro, chili, coconut, and fresh fish; and arepas (cornmeal and cheese griddle cakes with smoked salmon and wasabi sour cream) that meld the flavors and textures of many traditions. We're sold on Mañana Garage -- it has really raised the bar and introduced exciting new flavors to Maui's dining options.
