Hi Ricky offers a continent-hopping menu of dishes from Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, China, and Vietnam in a hip setting. The dishes feature fresh ingredients, generous portions, and reasonable prices. This big, airy restaurant, installed in a former auto shop, has an industrial look with down-turned woks inventively employed as light fixtures along the open grill. Given the restaurant's name, you'll want to begin with an order or two of satay: You've got seven to choose from, or you can go for a sampler and try all of them (chicken, lamb, shrimp, tofu, and more). Main courses include spicy drunken noodles (broad noodles stir-fried with basil, greens, tomato, sprouts, and hot pepper -- and a choice of tofu or a variety of meats) and the Malaysian Hokkien noodles (spicy curry fried egg and rice noodles with a choice of meats). There's also a full bar, specializing in tropical-inspired cocktails. Other locations are in Wicker Park at 1852 North Ave. (tel. 312/276-8300), and near downtown at 941 W. Randolph St. (tel. 312/491-9100).
Main courses $6.95-$11.Open: Mon-Thurs 11:30am-10pm; Fri 11:30am-11pm; Sat noon-11pm; Sun noon-10pm.Reservations not accepted.Credit Cards: AE, DISC, MC, V.Subway/El: Brown Line to Southport.
