I just love Home. This cozy restaurant is the domain of a husband-and-wife team, Chef David Page and co-owner Barbara Shinn, who have made home-style cooking something to celebrate. Page and Shinn keep things fresh, popularly priced, and welcoming; as a result, their narrow, tin-roofed dining room is always packed. The dinner menu changes regularly, but look for such signature dishes as the rich and creamy blue cheese fondue with rosemary toasts; an excellent cumin-crusted pork chop on a bed of homemade barbecue sauce; a filleted-at-your-table brook trout accompanied by sweet potatoes, apples and sage; and perfectly moist roasted chicken with a side of spicy onion rings. Chocolate lovers should save room for the silky-smooth pudding. Breakfast and weekend brunch are great times to visit, too, with fluffy pancakes and excellent egg dishes. The wine list is lovely, boasting a large selection of local bottles from Long Island's North Fork. This is a quintessential Village restaurant, loaded with sophisticated charm. It's tiny, yet not uncomfortable; you won't feel intruded upon by your neighbors. Heated year-round, the lovely garden is most charming in warm weather; book an outside table well ahead.

Main courses $8-$12 at breakfast and lunch, $14-$18 at dinner; fixed-price lunch $13; 3-course dinner $28 ($48 with wines).Open: Mon-Fri 9am-4pm and 5-11pm; Sat 10:30am-4:30pm and 5:30-11pm; Sun 10:30am-4:30pm and 5:30-10pm.Reservations recommended.Credit Cards: AE, DISC, MC, V.Subway: A, C, E, F, V to W. 4th St. (use W. 3rd St. exit).
