Acme's motto is AN OKAY PLACE TO EAT -- a witty bit of clear-eyed candor in this best-obsessed town. This easygoing NoHo joint is divey in a pleasing way, with a good-natured staff, a Louisiana roadhouse theme, and the comfortable ambience of a well-worn neighborhood favorite. Acme serves up heaping platters of Southern home cooking and barbecue, including po-boys, boiled crawfish, jambalaya, seafood gumbo, thick-cut pork chops, chicken-fried steak, baby back ribs -- not gourmet grub, but good, cheap, filling eats.

Main courses $6-$14 at lunch, $7-$16 at dinner; fixed-price weekend brunch $10 (includes coffee and tea, plus juice, Bloody Mary, beer, or mimosa).Open: Mon-Thurs 11:30am-11:30pm; Fri-Sat 11am-12:30am; Sun noon-11pm.Reservations accepted for parties of 8 or more.Credit Cards: AE, DC, DISC, MC, V.Subway: 6 to Bleecker St.
