A relative newcomer to the New York deli scene, Artie's is as good as many of the best delis in Manhattan, and far more cheery (no grumpy old men expecting you to know the difference between nova and gravlax here). It's tourist-friendly, but in a good way; even New Yorkers like it here.
All of your Jewish deli favorites are here -- from corned beef to chopped liver to tongue on rye -- and arrive at your table in top form. The pastrami is everything it should be, and the chicken soup with kreplach is a sore throat's worst nightmare. Artie's chili dogs deserve special note, as they just may be the best in town. Burgers, omelets, and salads are also on hand for middle-market palettes. Nostalgia-inducing desserts include Jell-O, baked apple, genuine New York black-and-white cookies, very good homemade rugelach, and sliced birthday cake every day ("No birthday necessary -- song not included").
