NIGHTLIFE: BARS & PUBS Frommer
Idlewild

It may look unapproachable from the street, with nothing but an unmarked stainless-steel facade, but inside you'll find a fun, easygoing bar that's perfect for lovers of retro-kitsch. The interior is a larger-scale repro of a jet airplane, complete with reclining seats, tray tables, and too-small bathrooms that will transport you back to your favorite midair moments. The crowd is a cool mix of downtown locals and hip tourists, and the deejay spins a listener-friendly mix of light techno, groovy disco in the funkadelic vein, and '80s tunes. Drinks are downright affordable.
