Extraordinary*

This warm, friendly gallery-cum-gift shop is well worth going out of your way to discover. Owner J. R. Sanders, an interior designer who has created lauded exhibits at many city museums, has directed his copious talents to assembling a gorgeous and beautifully displayed collection of gifts from around the world. Lacquered crackle-egg shell trays from Vietnam, carved mango bowls from the Philippines, clever rosewood serving utensils camouflaged as tree branches from Africa, creative cheese servers and wine goblets by American glassblowers, and much, much more -- all eye candy for those who thrive on whimsy and good design. Best of all, prices are shockingly reasonable -- you'd pay twice as much at any other gallery or boutique -- and late hours (usually daily to 10:30pm) make it easy to visit before or after dinner at Guastavino's. Truly extraordinary!
