It's sad that most places like this have disappeared across the country. Amazingly, this one, in Dallas since 1912, hasn't. An authentic slice of Americana, this old-time soda fountain and lunch counter (and yes, pharmacy) has stood its ground, even as everything in its midst has become an ultrachic bar, restaurant, or home furnishings store. If you've got a hankering for a grilled pimento cheese sandwich, homemade chicken salad, or a limeade, milk shake, or root-beer float, this is the place; just grab a bar stool. It's a good spot for breakfast, too. Just don't ask the soda jerk for a latte or other fancy fixins.
