Dare I say it? We were not quite as taken with Zola, even though so many people seem to be. It certainly is a cleverly designed restaurant, trading on its location next to the International Spy Museum for a decor that includes backlit panels of coded KGB documents, and a center-pivoted swinging wall/door, that's like something straight out of the TV show, Get Smart. We very much liked the red velvet booths in the dining room, and the long curving bar where there are plenty of little ledges to rest one's drink. But we didn't think the food was great: the crab cakes were best, rating a B+, the lobster roll and rockfish each warranted a C. I include Zola, because we dined here shortly after the restaurant opened and it may have improved since then, and because Zola, in its superb downtown location, has become a popular place for the young and single to hang. Servers are friendly but inattentive.
