Located in the Goose Hollow neighborhood at the foot of the West Hills and only a few blocks from the PGE Park baseball stadium, this diminutive French restaurant has an utterly unremarkable façade yet a thoroughly French and unpretentiously sophisticated interior. However, the menu is one of the most extraordinary in the city, featuring the finest of ingredients in unusual flavor combinations that almost always hit the mark. Dinners here are multicourse affairs that change with the seasons. Expect such interesting creations as an ahi salad with avocado, fresh wasabi, and citrus vinaigrette; chilled tomato soup; smoked quail with organic fingerling potatoes, truffles, truffle oil, and wine sauce; saddle of rabbit with lentils and sautéed foie gras; and lobster with polenta, corn, chanterelles, and port-wine sauce. If you're in town for a very special occasion and are looking for the most memorable restaurant in town, Couvron will fill the bill.
Prix fixe menus only: $65 vegetarian, $75, or $95 grand menu.Open: Tues-Sat 5:30-9pm.Reservations necessary.Credit Cards: AE, MC, V.
